Artist Biography - Statement
Susan Black - Watercolor Painting
I paint what interests me – concepts, meditations, ideas,
certain places – and dreams. In this series -- called Do You
Dream in Color? – I use watercolor color-studies to concentrate
attention on an aspect of dreams that often confounds people.
In my use of paint, I am very experimental. I also like to
address the technical challenges that watercolor poses, and
look for new answers to old questions. This series is executed,
not on traditional paper, but on canvas specially treated to
support watercolor painting, so no framing, under glass or
otherwise, is needed.
